Never Say Never Again

Never Say Never Again 1983 James Bond movie Sean Connery

Yup...dropping the CL and going back to the ES. Will I stick with it this time around? Who knows?
Also, thinking of stopping this blog (not much of a blogger anyway) and just concentrating on trading.

CL 9/1 - 9/5 +89

I guess it's hard for me to keep a promise. Yup, I'm back to looking at the CL again (for the umpteenth time). The price action in the CL is not as "clean-cut" as in the ES. Sometimes, it's downright unreadable/confusing to me. However, it's risk/reward is a lot better (over 2X better). This is basically the main reason that led me back to it. 1 CL winner can make up for 1 loser, whereas it'll take about 2 ES winners to just even out 1 loser.

ES 8/25 - 8/29 +8.25

I was somewhat distracted this past week by the CL (again) and by some personal matters. Was going back and forth looking at CL and ES charts. Missed some good trade setups, as a result. The ES can be slow and boring sometimes, but I need to just stick with it. Will concentrate solely on the ES and forgo (again) the CL. Also, am in the midst of dealing with some issues in Philly. Hopefully, the damage won't be significant this time around. Sigh.

ES 8/15/14 +5.00

The market was really slow up until about 10:30. Then it just tanked big time. Difficult for me to trade when prices moved this fast and this volatile. Suffice to say I didn't catch anything big off of any of today's major down moves. My runners were inefficient also. Will revert to trading single lots again.

If not for my butter fingers, I could have had a +4 points (scalp + runner) winner on my 2nd trade. Damm!!!

ES 8/13/14 +2.50

Messed up on two trades today. Got shaken out of a long (2nd trade). Literally 3 seconds after I bailed for +2 ticks, prices shot up pass my initial scalp target. Then after I got stopped out of a short trade (3rd trade), I immediately went long ((4th trade)...mostly out of revenge. It basically went nowhere fast and slowly drifted downwards against me. Emotions still hyped, I then bought another contract (5th trade) to average down. The trade eventually worked, after about 1.5 hours, but I was basically gambling at this point.

ES 8/12/14 +2.00

Stupid that I went short on the 2nd trade. I was actually anticipating a failure to the short side. But, somehow I got suckered in. Just couldn't resist myself, when the bar I was watching met resistance at the EMA and ended up bearish. Thought prices might then perhaps try to retest the low of the day. Should have stuck to my original bias. Got stopped out when prices reversed to the upside. I then also immediately went long (which was my original intention, anyway). Recovered some of the loss.

ES 8/11/14 +3.00

The 3rd trade (long entry at around 14:52) lasted the longest of the 3 trades I took today. Had to also endure a bit of heat, as prices retraced a little. When prices resumed it's upward movement, I was anxious to get out. Was spooked by the prior retracement. Therefore, was relieved that I was able to get out with +2 ticks. Of course, immediately after I got out, prices went on to hit my initial scalp target. It's uncanny how this seems to happen all the time to me.

ES 8/8/14 +2.75

Concentrating more on my trading than blogging now. As a result, will be making blog posts sporadically. Anyway, I did make a brief foray into the CL world. However, after about a week or so of trading the crude oil futures, I have decided it is not for me. The price action is not as clean cut as in the ES. Also, like I have mentioned before, the CL is not for the faint of heart. It moves very fast. It is like the ES on adrenaline. I just prefer driving in the local lane, not the express one. Therefore, back to the ES for me.

CL 7/18/14 +39 ticks

That Brazil-Germany semi-finals game was crazy! Never before have I seen a game where one side scored 5 goals in a half or 7 goals in a game. The Brazilians got b-slapped left and right.

Anyway, today decided to take a shot at the CL - Crude Oil Futures. Took two long setups, when prices bounced off of a support level. At $10/tick, this thing moves fast. Can easily make in 1 CL trade, what would take 3-5 ES ones. Very volatile. Missed out on a few short setups, b/c I was not quick enough on the trigger. Trades can be stopped out in a flash too, if entered wrong. No real back and forth movements like in the ES. Would also need to widen my stops to accommodate for the wider moves. Not sure I'm comfortable with that and the speed. Most likely back to the ES then.

ES 6/9 - 6/13 +12.75

It's World Cup football (or soccer) time! Croatia got mugged yesterday versus Brazil. A bunch of bad/wrong calls against Croatia, which cost it the game. I guess home field advantage is alive and well. Today, another badly refereed game. Mexico had 2 legit goals against Cameroon cancelled due to bad/wrong calls by the linesman. Mexico was still able to prevail, though. FIFA needs to implement instant replay or add an extra referee and linesmen to the game.

ES 6/3 - 6/6 +10.25

With the exception of Thursday, this past trading week was slow with very little movement. Did a lot of surfing and was even contemplating switching over to the NQ, instead. Anyway, didn't trade last Monday and might not trade this Monday either. Have to run some errands.

ES 5/27 - 5/30 +9.75

Got 9.75 points for the week of 5/27 to 5/30. I ended up trading on 5/28. The car repair work would take a few days, instead of just a few hours. Had to leave it with the dealership. Took the subway home and was back staring at the screen a little pass mid-morning.

Light volume +3.25

Not much volume today...as expected, the day after a major holiday. Won't be trading tomorrow, as I'm helping take my b-in-law's car back to the dealership for service. Was there last Friday for them to repair the A/C. It was not blowing cold air. Turned out to be a broken fuse. Total damage was $211, of which $2 was for the fuse. The rest was labor cost. Dag! Anyway, the A/C was once again cold...for a few hours afterwards. By night time, it was blowing regular air again. I'm hoping for free service this time around, as it doesn't seem like the dealership did a proper fix the first time.

Can't see the forest...+3.50

Can't see the forest for the trees

I sometimes have a tendency to not see the forest for the trees. Two examples of this today. First, went short without checking/noticing that I was entering at the support area. Was too mesmerized by the very fast bearish bar that formed. WTF?!? Stupid reason for entering. Prices then came within 1 tick of triggering a full-blown 2 points stop. Would've ended my day right there and then. Second, missed a great long setup, due to the fact that I didn't have the main trend lines in place. This was b/c I was so concentrated on looking for trades on the short side. The subsequent move up turned out to be the biggest move of the day. Dag!
